July 16 — Indie/punk rockers Titus Andronicus’ took the stage of The Village Voice’s 4Knots Festival prior to the headlining band, but judging by their swelling crowd and fantastic live performance, they could have been easily mistaken as the headliner themselves.

The band’s performance was astounding — loud, brash, emotional and it left the crowd wanting more, all of which makes a concert memorable. The five piece knew how to work the stage, but it was vocalist Patrick Stickles and guitarist Amy Klein that grabbed my attention the most. Furiously driven and engaged with the music, Harm and Klein were as fantastic to watch as they were to photograph.
As the band went through numerous songs from both 2008′s The Airing of Grievances and 2010′s The Monitor, the audience could not help but lose themselves within the many songs. It was The Monitor‘s “Four Score and Seven,” however, which brought the audience to its knees — or, more appropriately, brought the audience to crowd surf, to scream, to dance and, in some cases, to tear up.
During some songs, Harm jumped into the photo pit and threw himself into the audience. This provided an opportunity for some great crowd photos:

Titus Andronicus’ set was thoroughly impressive and it made me a fan of the band. Think you’d dig them?
